The Founder

PRAJNA was promoted in 1987 by a group of professionally trained, highly committed and experienced women social workers. They strongly felt the need for a professionally managed, service-oriented organization to render effective services to the socially disadvantaged individuals and communities in order that they have qualitative lives.  

Managing Committee

Prajna was started By Prof. Hilda Rayappan as founder trustee, along with Mrs. Celine Perrira and Phylis D'Costa. All the three are well known in the academic circles as well as in reaching out to the needy and afflicted.

In the year 2005, the trustee group was strengthened by the induction of three more trustees, namely Mrs. Sheila Rosario, a chartered accountant by profession and the proprietor of Jimmy's Super Market, Mrs. Shalini Aiyappa, Head of Psychology Dept, St Aloysius College, Mangalore and Mrs. jacintha d'almeida, working in senior positions in the famed software company Infosys.
