Prajna Counselling Center offers counselling services for individuals, couples, families, parents and students/youth. This was the foremost family counselling center in Mangalore and the services of Prajna are availed by a vast geographical region. People from Karnataka, Kerala and parts of Tamilnadu avail the services here.
The counselling format varies for each of these segments. The approach, methodology and the duration is to be decided on a case to case basis. Prajna gives utmost importance to the confidentiality clause in the counselling framework and has been applauded for the trust maintained between the client / counsellor.
Note: Prior appointment is necessary for availing counselling services, as counselling sessions require privacy and long stretches of time. Prajna has a good network with important services which helps the client to receive immediate help and solace.
Therapeutic Counselling Centre - 1987
The main aim of Therapeutic Counselling Center is to help individuals and families who are suffering from distress and emotional problems. The nature of intervention is carried out at the individual level. Supportive counseling is rendered by encouraging free expression that enabled an individual to give full vent to his/her pent up emotions and feeling.
- So far 9,510 cases of women and children with emotional, psychological and psychiatric problems helped.

Family Counselling Centre was the first unit of Prajna Counselling Centre, which was started in 1989 with the motto of helping women to face boldly, multiple challenges and problems they face in the society.
The main aim of Family Counselling Centre is to advise and guide people who are facing social and family problems and also to remove injustice totally from the society and to help people to lead harmonious life. This Centre deals with various problems of women, problems such as violence, injustice, gender discrimination, harassment, ill-treatment, desertion, sexual abuse, wife battering etc.
- So far 5,723 cases of distressed women, girls and familes are handled and helped.
Family and Community empowernent program - 1996 Supported by CCF
Organization runs Family Helper Project, since 1996. This project works towards promotion of child, family and community empowerment through the concept of sponsorship. This project was set up in response to the needs of the economically backward and less privileged residing in remote villages, low-income community areas and slums in Mangalore. These people do not have access to basic needs like Health and sanitation, Housing, drinking water and other facilities. There are among them who need support for education, vocational training and self-employment.
Project carries out programes under various sectors like; Health & Sanitation, Education, Nutrition, Early Childhood development, Livelihood and Child Protection, Childhood illness, Malaria, T.B.
Assistance for construction and repair of houses, construction of toilets, support for improvement & up gradation of infrastructures for preschool education, primary education.
- Project is assisting over 3000 children in 1000 families from slums, low income communities and remote areas.
