This programme aims to meet the needs of building the personality of the individual by providing skills in communication, developing self-image and self esteem, identification of problems and needs of development of leadership etc.
Several training programmes have been conducted in many parts of the district, on developing leadership qualities among girls, neo-literates, students, teachers, grass-root level workers, employees, and officials for the advancement of their personality and to develop their self-esteem for their empowerment.
Vocational Skill Training for the Youth
To make unemployed youth self reliant and economically independent the centre has organized various programme to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among unemployed youth. The main thrust of this programme is to give them a better quality of life, upgrading their existing skills and to promote better standard of living among poor and marginalized youth.
- 160 women underwent vocational and self-employment training at Shri. Narayana Guru Vocational Training Institute, Padubidri. They underwent training in motor winding, manufacturing and repairing of electrical goods, screen printing, photo lamination, phenol, candal, scoring powder making, ready-made garment and rexine bag making etc.
School based Reproductive & Sexual Healthcare program for adolescents, supported by FORUM SYD, Sweden
As the sexual maturation starts the curiosity about sex is heightened. This project focuses on educating the adolescents through school based sensitization programme. Young people in the school need to be able to assess realistically their own vulnerability and risk, the effectiveness of different options and how to relate these to their own values, and to feel motivated to adopt safer behaviour. The over all aim of this education is to ensure that a mature individual has first hand correct knowledge about sex and sexuality. This in turn will promote development of a well-integrated personality capable of controlling its fertility behaviour establishing social relationship with individuals of own and opposite sex based on mutual respect and concern for each other.
Presently school AIDS education programme is being conducted for classes VIIIth to X11th comprising children aged between 13 and 17 years in 27 high schools and pre-university colleges.
- School-based programme focus on adolescents sexual health issues and rights, anatomy and psychology of the sex organs, sex and sexuality, STD, HIV/AIDS so far reached out to over 12,000 children.
